ABOUT RICK CZAPLEWSKI
My name is Rick Czaplewski and I am a 27-year 2x cancer survivor of Hodgkin’s Disease. I am a motivational speaker and author and speak to audiences about my experience with cancer.
In my freshman year of college, my parents arrived unannounced at my dorm room to tell me, “Son you have Hodgkin’s Disease, cancer.” That semester, I fought cancer in silence, walking daily to the hospital for radiation, while still attending college. I did not tell anyone and did it alone. About 18 months later, I had a relapse, and dropped out of college to get chemotherapy and more radiation. Nine months later, my doctor gave me NED.
I have been cancer free since 1996 and after I graduated college used my second chance to climb Mt. Rainier, run the Boston Marathon, swim from Alcatraz to shore 12 times, and more. I have a college-aged son, Lance and wrote Better Dirty Than Done, a book about survivorship.
I am now bringing my positive message of hope and inspiration to as many survivors as possible.
