I began using a nebulizer when Kicker started going through cancer treatment. We used it to help support his body’s ability to detoxify and to minimize any bacteria that could possibly build up in the lungs.
In case you didn’t know, when a child receives chemotherapy, doctors are concerned with the potential development of parasites in the lungs. This is one of the reasons why they put children on antibiotics. However, we decided to take a proactive approach using natural solutions to help minimize any opportunistic bacteria.
Then, over the years, we’ve used the nebulizer anytime someone in our family gets sick or has a cough or cold. It supports their ability to breathe easier and recover more quickly. And most recently during the pandemic, we’ve also used it to support healing and have experienced tremendous results.
As a result…and because of the endless questions and increased curiosity about the nebulizer…here’s the foundational information you need to know on how you can also use the nebulizer for detoxification and immune support.
What Is It?
Nebulizing is an effective way to help support respiratory systems and assist in detoxification.
How Does It Work?
The nebulizer changes the liquid substance into fine droplets. Thus creates a mist that is inhaled into the mouth and nose through a mask or mouthpiece.
What Are the Benefits?
Your lungs are one of your detox organs, so you can nebulize to support detoxification. Your lungs also play a large role in your oxygen levels. Therefore, nebulizing can help keep lungs clear of unwanted invaders, as well as improve oxygen levels.
What Should I Nebulize?
Hydrogen Peroxide
Recommended Brand: Heritage Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen Peroxide is an antiseptic that has been used for years to help fight pathogens. In fact, did you know that our immune cells actually create hydrogen peroxide as a part of their defense against pathogens? For viruses, Hydrogen Peroxide is most effective if used as early on as possible. It’s also not only safe to nebulize, but it’s recommended especially for respiratory illnesses.
To make, mix 2 teaspoons of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide to 8 ounces of saline water (see saline water recipe and saline solution recommendation below). Store mixture in the refrigerator.
To use, add ½ teaspoon at a time for each nebulizing session.
I recommend for any acute respiratory infection to nebulize upon first signs of symptoms and to continue to nebulize every hour until symptoms subside. You can also nebulize Hydrogen Peroxide as a preventative health measure 1x/week to help fight pathogens.

Glutathione
Recommended Brand: Quicksilver Glutathione
Glutathione is an antioxidant that helps prevent cell damage and is one of the most powerful detox nutrients that your body can actually produce when stimulated through detoxification methods like coffee enemas. With age, your ability to produce glutathione slows down a bit. Therefore, it’s helpful to supplement. Because your lungs are a detox organ and also in charge of respiratory health, it makes sense that nebulizing glutathione can help recovery of acute or chronic respiratory issues.
To make, I recommend adding 3 pumps of Quicksilver glutathione to 1 tsp of saline solution (see saline water recipe and saline solution recommendation below) and mixing until well combined.
To use, nebulize for 10 minutes 2x/day for acute infection.
You can also nebulize glutathione the same amount for preventative health 1x/week, and if you’re focused on detoxing, you can do this 3-5x/week.

Silver Solution
Recommended Brand: Sovereign Silver
Silver works in harmony with the body’s pH and helps to reduce overall inflammation. Because of its positive charge, Silver interacts with microbes and stops duplication of virus and bacteria microbial DNA.
To use, I recommend nebulizing 4cc Silver if you have an acute respiratory infection for 5 minutes, 4x/day until symptoms subside.
You can also nebulize Silver as a preventative health measure 1x/week to help fight pathogens.

Minerals
Recommended Brand: Quinton Isotonic or Hypertonic
Quinton minerals are a beneficial supply of minerals and trace elements straight from the plankton beds in the ocean. It has been used in the past as a replacement for blood plasma during both world wars, although the FDA has outlawed that in the US (I know…shocking). The minerals and trace elements in these vials help bring the body into homeostasis or a parasympathetic state, which is essential for healing.
To use, I recommend nebulizing 1 vial of Hypertonic minerals 1x/day during an acute respiratory infection for about 10-15 minutes.
Although it wouldn’t hurt to nebulize these minerals preventatively, I actually recommend taking 1 vial per day internally on an empty stomach.

Saline Solution
Recommended Brand: Modudose Saline Solution
To make it yourself, mix 8 ounces of distilled water, ½ tsp of Redmond’s Real Salt or Celtic Sea Salt until dissolved.

How to Clean and Store the Nebulizer?
After each nebulizing treatment, you need to properly clean and store the machine and materials.
- Rinse the solution cup (where you place the substance your nebulizing) with warm water and place in an area to dry completely.
- Place the mask or mouthpiece into a stainless steel or glass bowl filled with warm water and 1 TBL of OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate or Abode Cleaner Concentrate. You can also use an organic dish soap concentrate (i.e. Better Life or Dr. Bronner’s) or make a solution that is one-part white vinegar to 3 parts water.
- Soak for 20-30 minutes.
- Rinse well and place in an area to dry completely.
- There’s no need to wash the tubing, just keep it in an area to dry as much as possible.
- Before storing, make sure all pieces are as dry as possible as to avoid any moisture build up that can lead to mold.
- Keep in a cabinet or a place that’s clean and not a high touch/access area.
To help, here’s a video I put together for you to have a visual of getting the nebulizer set up for use.

Hi Season.
I started following you when my hubby was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer in Aug 2018. Three years later, and he is cancer free. We used doTERRA oils all thru his treatments, and we continue to use them every day. All glory to God for healing my husband, for creating the plants and oils for us to use, and for people like you who share your wisdom. <3
Thank you for this info on nebulizers. Great stuff!
The link you provided for the nebulizer came up as "Page Not found".
Can you provide some tips and info on what to look for when purchasing a nebulizer. Amazon has over 4000 options when you type in "nebulizer". I have no idea what to look for.
Thank you.
Blessing to you.
Season
I’m so happy to hear that your husband is cancer free!! Glory!! 🙂 As far as the link, check it…it was resolved yesterday, so you should be good to go. Thanks!
Karen Singletary
Is there a better option for the saline solution? The one you have listed doesn’t come up anymore. A whole bunch on Amazon but don’t know which one is best.

Hi there,
Is it ok to use essential oils in the nebulizer?
Season
I’ve never used them in the nebulizer and wouldn’t recommend it.
Whitney Fiock
Hi Season- what is the youngest age you’d say is “safe” to use the nebulizer?
Season
Hi Whitney, I would encourage you to ask your doctor. I think it would depends on the child and their health. Thanks!
Alina
Thank you for this, just created an account & purchase few items 😀.
Season
Yay…you’re so welcome!
Erin
Hi Season, I would love to do one of these solutions for my daughter when she starts to have an asthma attack. Do you know if any of these will work?
Season
Hi Erin – I would suggest the saline solution and using Breathe Essential Oil on her chest.
Kim
If you are using the Modudose saline vials, how much 3% peroxide would you add to make a solution for nebulizing?
Jacklyn
Are the mixture amounts for a certain size or type of nebulizer? We have a small handheld one and I just want to make sure these amounts are correct for our type.
Season
Hi there – The amounts are for adults. Hope that clarifies things. Thanks!
Simon
Hi, I think this page is amazing and want to thank you for providing this fantastic information for people. I was wondering whether you know of a NAD+ recipe or where I could buy a solution for nebuliser?
Season
So glad that you find it all so helpful! And it would be best to work with a practitioner to get a recipe that would be specific to your bioindividual needs!
